Our owners and management are committed to the training and personal development of all staff working at our properties. We believe that a well-trained, skilled and enthusiastic team of people is crucial to our success.
When you commence your employment, you’ll attend a comprehensive orientation program to provide you with all the information you need to have a successful start to your career with us.
The orientation program includes hospitality units at the Kimberley College of TAFE. Once completed, these units form the basis of a
Certificate II in Hospitality Operations.
Employees working in Food and Beverage positions are also required
to attend Responsible Service of Alcohol training.
The resort provides a variety of other courses to employees based on their position. These include:
• Supervisor & Manager Training
• Occupational Health & Safety for Managers
• Senior First Aid Certification
• Aquatic Rescue Certification
• Fork Lift License
• Snake Handling
As part of our commitment to training and developing our team, we offer Apprenticeships in Cookery and Internships for Hospitality Students across such areas as Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Front Office. Often the on-the-job training is provided at the Resort, with the theory component provided in conjunction with Kimberley College of TAFE.
Cross training
If you are interested in learning skills in other departments, you can apply for cross training (unpaid training). Employees will only be eligible for cross training if their performance is of a consistently high standard within their existing position and if approved by their relevant Department Manager.
Casual Hours
If you have qualifications, skills or attributes that may be relevant to other positions, you can work casual hours in other departments, depending on availability. Employees performing casual hours must ensure that they are able to meet the requirements of their original position. These hours can be a great way to expand your Hospitality experience and earn some extra money along the way.
Transfers / Promotions
Employees must have completed a minimum of three months in their initial position before being eligible to apply for inter departmental transfers. Transfers or promotions within the same department are not affected by this rule.
The resort always prefers to look within at our current team for promotion/transfer opportunities before recruiting externally. So opportunities often become available for staff to develop their career whilst remaining at the Resort.
Employee Benefits
We offer a number of benefits to all of our staff, including:
• An active social club
• Subsidised staff meals whilst on duty
• Staff accommodation periodic discounts based on tenure
• Staff discounts at the Resort’s food and beverage outlets, Day Spa,
and Hair Salon
• Discounted accommodation at the Resort for staff members, their family and friends
• Free participation in Resort Activities (eg yoga and tai chi)
