Broome is the gateway to the Kimberley. It’s the ideal holiday destination with a perfect climate, stunning natural beauty, historic sites and lots of charm. The area has plenty of attractions, adventures and activities plus shopping and dining. Whether you prefer to be active or just want to take it easy at the beach, Broome has something for you. It’s a great place to live and work.
Broome was established as a pearling port in the 1880s and soon became home to people of many nationalities; European, Malay, Chinese and Japanese; as well as Australia’s Indigenous people who flocked to the shores of Roebuck Bay hoping to make their fortune from the pearling industry. The influence of the pearling industry, with its cultural melting pot, has helped create the distinctive charm and character of Broome.
Broome is serviced by three major airlines; Qantas, Virgin Blue and SkyWest. People can also travel to Broome via the Greyhound bus or drive the WA coastline.
