8:30am I arrive at reception and review the day’s arrivals. Part of my role is to liaise with our VIP guests and make sure that their every need is met. I make a note of our arriving VIPs for the day, their time of arrival and confirm who is doing the airport transfers. Once that's done, I see who's departing today, attend to any overnight requests and organise our departing guest’s airport transfers.
9:30am As our guests are our number one priority here at the resort, I take the time to visit rooms when I can to make sure they are maintained to the resort's high standards.
10:00am I've been at the resort for 20 years, and I like to share some of this experience with our guests. I conduct tours throughout the resort grounds, the gardens and also the art works on display. Today, some of our in-house guests have asked me to hold an Antique and Arts tour. I love doing these; they last about 45 minutes. We walk around the resort grounds and I tell them about my love of the arts and history of the resort.
11:00am This is reception’s peak time for arrivals and departures. I return to my desk so I can help greet our arriving guests. They will often have questions about the available tours, what's happening at the resort during their stay and general information about the town of Broome.
2:00pm With everybody checked in, I have the chance to enjoy a lunch break before returning to my desk and moving on to my next task. We often have artists in residence at the resort – they paint on the main boardwalk area in front of the guests. I need to secure our next artist, so I give them a call and lock in a date.
3:30pm It’s my job to tell the management and staff about all the VIPs who will be visiting the resort; so I prepare my VIP report for the next few days.
4:00pm Today, there is a site inspection. So once again, I can show off the beautiful rooms and surrounds of the resort. I meet the travel agent and journalist in reception before heading off around the resort. I will have another chance to show off our wonderful resort tonight, when I entertain them at dinner.
5:00pm A tour bus arrives with forty new guests. I give them a welcome talk about the resort before helping them to find their rooms. And as the sun sets, my day is complete.
